Photography Sunday! pt. 5

The Michigan Avenue Bridge goes over the Chicago River. The bridge was build from 1917-1920. This week's Photography Sunday will show the friezes from the bridges. They are part of a set called "Tablets to Pioneers" by Wheeler Williams.

Photography Sunday! pt. 4

This week's Photography Sunday contains photos from Lurie Garden. Lurie Garden is between the Art Institute of Chicago and Millenium Park. I've visited this park several times during different seasons. It looks vastly different every time I go. These pictures were taken at the beginning of November, just as the flowers are loosing their blooms, and the trees are loosing their leaves.

Photography Sunday! pt. 2

This week's Photography Sunday deals with photos outside the Art Institute of Chicago.

The two bronze lions outside the Art Institute (by Edward Kemey) were made in 1893. They were a gift from Mrs. Henry Field. The south lion is "Stands in an Attitude of Defiance." The north lion is "On the Prowl."

This arch is found at the east entrance of the Art Institute. It used to be at the entrance of the old Chicago Stock Exchange. It was designed by Louis Sullivan in 1894.

These photos are from the West facade. The current location is the third that the Art Institute has had. It was designed by Shepley Rutan and Coolidge for the 1893 World's Colombian Exposition.

Photography Sunday! pt. 1

I am introducing a new posting this week. From now on I will be posting photography on Sundays. For this week's Photography Sunday, I will be posting photos from the Stanley McCormick Memorial Court (or the North Garden) at the Art Institute of Chicago. It is located Across from Millennium Park on South Michigan Avenue.

This first photo (as well as some later photos) is of Large Interior Form (1953-54, bronze) by Henry Moore. The other photos are of Cubi VII (1963, stainless steel) by David Smith.

My Apartment pt. 2

Here are some more photos of my apartment.

Here is a photo from my living room (and yes...that is Wife Swap on the television).

Here is a picture of the fridge (and yes, those pub magnets are mine). Actually, all those magnets are mine.

Here is another photos of the living room (including the most comfortable futon in the entire world). On the far left is a zombie survival poster (a must in any household).

Here is the view in the living room (I couldn't really fit the whole thing in one picture). It is third favorite view in the apartment.

My Apartment pt. 1

I thought that I would post pictures of my Apartment to show you.

This is kind of a weird photo to start with, but I LOVE this shower curtain. It was the very first shower curtain that I ever bought.

Here is a photo of my insanely messy desk. It was a lot cleaner last year (when I actually used it). This year, I mostly use it as shelves and for storage.

This is a collage on the wall directly next to my bed. Some of the small pictures are actually postcards from my mom. There are also a couple of doctor who drawings that I did and a couple sheets of lyrics from my favorite song.

Here is my ridiculously messy closet. It sort of speaks for itself.

These are all photos from outside my bedroom window. They are my favorite views in the apartment. I am always so happy when it is finally warm enough for the boats to be out. Sometimes there are dozens of them out there.

Underneath is a photo of the view right next to my bed. I also like this picture, because you can see my pillow. It is from the very first set of sheets that I ever bought. It is also my favorite.

Ruth and Jamie's Visit!

Ruth and Jamie came to stay for a few days. It was really fun. This first picture is of us waiting for a train (right after I had been groped by a crazy woman...long story).

The second picture is of Ruth thoroughly enjoying her first ever Chicago-style hot dog.

The third picture was taken right before it started raining. It was ridiculous. It was really nice outside. Suddenly a big gust of wind came up. It was FREEZING cold. I think that I actually screamed, because I was so startled. Then Ruth had to walk all down Sheridan (pretty busy) in the rain, in her bathing suit.

The fourth picture was earlier in the day. It was pretty gloomy outside, but actually felt pretty nice.
